I am Yu, currently doing my PhD in Computer Science at the University of St. Gallen, specialising in Human-Computer Interaction with a focus on Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR). My unique blend of technical expertise in mixed reality and navigational technologies, combined with my entrepreneurial spirit, sets me apart. My journey has been driven by a passion for enhancing user experiences and improving human lives through technology. This is reflected in my published academic papers, where I design and evaluate novel user interfaces, such as VR shopping stores, MR experience streaming, and improving everyday MR experiences. Beyond my PhD, I also commit myself to leveraging technology for social good. I am a robotic developer and manager and developed the user interface of a social robot for the learning center Square at HSG, which supports users in gaining more information, thereby enhancing the usability of the space for open conversations, idea exchange, and knowledge sharing. To exemplify my entrepreneurial spirit, I founded MapUncover, a startup that utilises gamified, unlockable map designs to encourage physical activity and improve spatial knowledge. We are also embedding GPTs into maps to transform navigation, exploration, and travel experiences.
