Kantonsspital Baden (KSB) AG mit Siemens Healthineers International AG
Thanks to the Virtual Cockpit, one radiologist can control three MRI examinations simultaneously, even at remote locations. This counteracts the shortage of specialists and the increasing demand for examinations can be met.
The finalist KSB has shown a stable and very impressive development towards digital excellence over several years. The BoD and GL have therefore included the area of "innovation" in KSB's strategy. In the nationally and internationally connected KSB Health Innovation Hub (HIH), new developments in the areas of technology, diagnostics, therapy and support are continuously analyzed. Partners: ETH, universities, the start-up scene, other hospitals and equipment suppliers such as Siemens. At HIH, about a hundred projects have been examined since its founding. Collaborations have taken place in about a dozen startups. ETH has now also moved into the hub and is conducting research on site with three professorships. Topics: artificial intelligence, geriatric medicine and metabolic diseases. Corresponding digital data platforms have already been realized in order to be able to draw the greatest possible benefit from the millions of data generated in a hospital. Medicine is and will remain a people business. Nevertheless, digitization will greatly change the healthcare system. At KSB, there are already well over ten thousand networked devices in use. Augmented reality (during operations), robotics and artificial intelligence (radiology image analyses) have been a reality for years in some cases. The topic of "hospital@home", i.e. the care of patients in their own homes, is also a major trend that will increase. Automatic data transmission via apps and gadgets (heart rate, blood values, etc.) plays a central role here. In short, KSB is at the forefront of a very complex and highly regulated environment, both nationally and internationally.
